2013-2014 School Year
This year we are trying something new. Both boys will use their own individual curriculum, instead of being combined like that last two years. I decided that the gap between their skill levels just makes it too difficult for me to combine them into one curriculum. So our choice for this school year is Heart of Dakota. We will used Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory, for our 2nd/3rd grade, and Resurrection to Reformation as our 7th grade curriculum.
While Heart of Dakota is a complete curriculum, we did make some different choices for math and language arts. This year we are again using Math U See we will be finishing up Beta and Pre-Algebra from last year before moving on to the next books. Since I have a copy of Rod and Staff English 2 from a friend, we will try that for the youngest, my oldest will be using the writing program from Heart of Dakota along with Drawn into the Heart of Reading. We will not focus on a formal grammar program at this time, but may add one later in the year.
We are very excited to try this new approach. My soon to be 7th grader will be doing most of the work independently, which give me more time to work with my younger son who is a struggling reader/writer, a very active, can't sit still 8 yr old.
So stop by as we blog weekly (or more) about how we survive this homeschooling roller coaster!
